A virtual 101 web3 course
You know you probably need to learn about crypto and Web3 eventually. Some of your smartest friends keep telling you that it will be a thing. But you just don’t know where to start.
You’ve tried doing some research on your own but every time you sit down to learn, all you can find are crazy YouTubers or Tiktokers promising that Bitcoin will reach $1,000,000, someone saying that PoopCoin is the future of finance, or that a picture of a rock is worth more than an LA mansion.
You get discouraged and tell yourself that you’ll learn about crypto some other time.
If any of this spoke to you or sounded like your journey, you should join the Web3 Sunday Brunch Club.
What will you learn?
Master the basic understanding of web3 technology and its jargon
We'll cover wallets, exchanges, minting, and staking with fun hands-on examples. You'll also become fluent in crypto speak. DeFi, DAOs, proof-of-stake, AMMs, Gwei - we'll cover all of the social and technical terms you'll need to know.
Experiment with tools & strategies through hands-on workshops
You'll learn how to mint your own NFT collection, borrow and lend in the world of DeFi, create and run a DAO, and how web3 creates an internet of personal ownership.
Learn the broader implications
We'll dive deep into crypto promises (and threats) for society, the economy, and the environment. We'll look at historical examples of where crypto has fallen short and it's common criticisms, but we'll also look at where it could go in the future.
Workshops will be Sunday mornings from 11:00am - 12:30pm ET.
There will be four workshops:
- September 4th
- September 11th
- September 18th
- September 25th
Cohorts: space in the monthly cohort is capped at 20!
Tuition: $0 (if we want web3 to be as big and impactful as it can be, we need everyone to get onboard and join us for the journey)
‼️ No prior knowledge about crypto/web3 is required. This is a beginner friendly course. ‼️
A focus on building
In this course, you’ll learn important concepts by getting your hands dirty and actually building! During the 4 weeks, you’ll….
- Create your own crypto token by writing Solidity
- Borrow and lend money on defi protocols
- Mint your first NFT
- Create a DAO and vote on governance proposals
Those who complete the course will receive a special NFT badge!
Why you should care
One of the most important things that crypto/web3 offers to the world is the ability to make financial services a world public utility and a basic human right - something that is available to all "citizens of the internet". It’s the separation of finance/ownership and state.
Many US citizens don't realize how privileged we are to live in a country where we have access to safe and secure bank accounts, we have access to student loans, we can take out a mortgage, and (generally) we have faith in our government and banks that those products and services are safe and can be trusted. Not everyone is in the same boat.
Web3 allows anyone with internet connection to have access to decentralized financial services. They can create a savings account, they can take out a loan, they can exchange assets, buy insurance, non-US citizens can own assets that reflect the price of US stocks, etc. With crypto/web3, all of this is possible without the need of any government or centralized banks.
Every cohort is capped at 20 spots.
⚠️ Please only signup if you can commit to showing up for all 4 workshops. ⚠️
9/4, 9/11, 9/18, 9/25
10/9, 10/16, 10/23, 10/30
11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 11/27
After you apply, you’ll get an email if you are accepted into the cohort.
